The unemployment rate is 5.4% for post-9/11 veterans. While this number is lower than it has been in recent years, it is still too high. One of the reason is their specific military skill set isn’t useful in the civilian world. I find it incredible that we can train someone to defend our nation but not to contribute to society.

In Honor of the 22
Not only do we need to hire smart and hire vets, we also need to pay closer attention to their mental health and well-being. Studies show that on average 22 veterans commit suicide every day. This is tragic and absolutely unacceptable.
